When interpreting the Constitution, there is a great deal of discussion around the original intent of our Founding Fathers. So it seems appropriate to look at their personal beliefs when we attempt to answer the question: Was our country founded as a Christian nation? 
So, lets begin this journey with Benjamin Franklin.
