Throughout church history, it has been mentioned that Luke was the first and only gentile writer that contributed to the Bible. Most Biblical historians and scholars agree. But was he? Is the evidence for Luke being a gentile slim? The late Dr. Thomas McCall, argues that it’s clear that Luke was actually a Jew.  You may be thinking, does it even matter if Luke was a Jew or Gentile? To some it may not, but when we think about Luke’s contribution to the Bible and the testimony of his work, it is significant.
