Having always heard Münevver’s name when she was young, when Derin was old enough to comprehend the horrific details of Münevver's murder, she was curious as to how her adolescent boyfriend could have killed a girl that young. This brought Derin's attention to the issue of violence against women in Turkey and motivated her to speak up for victims using social media to generate discussions, awareness, and solutions. As a young feminist, Derin believes that when these stories are shared, we break social stigmas.
