With the U.S. having removed Maduro from Venezuela, we have to look at history to understand the potential fallout. In this episode, drawing on my own experience in Panama shortly after Operation Just Cause and the removal of Noriega, I analyze the nuance of U.S. intervention in Latin America, specifically how local populations often feel about it. From the Colombian coast near the Venezuelan border, I discuss the baggage the U.S. carries in the region, the reality of life for regular citizens caught in the crossfire, and why the true test of this event isn't the removal of the leader, but the stability (or lack thereof) that follows.
