Was the story in J.D. Vance's Hillbilly Elegy based on fact?

Listen Later

JD Vance's book, which explores the difficult everyday existence of this disadvantaged class, was a potent witness to the injustice that exists in the US. By positioning itself as the voice of a forgotten America, the movie seeks to remain true to the source material. At that point, ardent Democrat Ron Howard was compelled to acknowledge—to his great dismay—that An American Ode had a political ring to it because of the date of the movie's release. The renowned Ohio hillbilly middle class was begging to be included in a battle that the filmmaker was unaware of. On the other hand, the fact that this community was so blatantly reminded of in 2016 unnerves Joe Biden's fans.
