At first glance, the Gospels appear contradictory. Israel ate the Passover on the 15th of Nisan, but Yeshua and his guys ate theirs on the 14th! Furthermore, the Mishnah tells us that Passover sacrifices done before noon on the 14th weren't even considered valid. So...what were they eating? Thankfully, this isn't an impossible problem. The answer is that there were two sacrifices which were eaten - one was the Passover sacrifice which was being slaughtered as Yeshua hung on the cross, and the other was a festival sacrifice called the chagigah which was done a day early and was also called "the Passover". In all probability, Yeshua and his disciples were eating the chagigah. Problem solved. This is a takeaway from our newest Mishnah Snapshots study.
