Listen Later

At this evening service Brother McIntyre elaborated on his decision to move on from his position as interim pastor at First Baptist in Jackson. Next Sunday September 25, 1988 will be his final service. His future plans had been for retirement and spending time with his grandchildren but instead the Lord had something else planned for him. He had been called to the position of Director of Evangelism and Education Study and Research for the Baptist World Alliance for the next two years. He will be entrusted with helping to create, develop, enhance and improve the 134 Baptist conventions, unions and fellowships around the world. He indicated this was like a new career for him after serving 31 years as a pastor and 10 years with the Sunday School Board. He expressed his appreciation to all those at First Baptist who mean so much to him.

His message for the evening was of Mary anointing the Lord with the expensive ointment. Jesus knew his time was short and this expression meant so much to Him. Brother McIntyre challenged the congregation to do like Mary by offering special gifts and services to the Lord.
