While Hideo is cooking in Japan at the beginning of the episode, he is interrupted by a phone call from Private Investigator John Sugar, who informs him that he has located his missing money. Moments later, Sugar arrives at the door with a bundle of cash in hand. Despite Hideo's attempts to offer a reward, Sugar declines and instead shows him a picture of Yuma Kobayashi, a child who has gone missing. Hideo denies any knowledge of Yuma's whereabouts. As Sugar leaves, he accuses Hideo of being involved in a ransom scheme with Mr. Kobayashi, only to discover that Yuma's real father is Masaki Hashimoto, a notorious figure in Tokyo's criminal underworld. In a tense moment, Hideo reaches for a knife as Sugar warns Masaki to flee the country and threatens to involve the authorities if Yuma is not returned within two hours.
