As Paul says in Galatians 5, we must walk by the Spirit. Sometimes we confuse the fruits of the Spirit as gifts of the Spirit. Gifts are something you receive, while fruit of the Spirit is something you grow. In Watch Your Step, Kristen Wilkerson notes that many of us lack the FRUIT of the Spirit simply because we have no ROOT in the Spirit.
