Michael Hammond, a licensed civil engineer in traffic and transportation, and EVP of Traffic Planning and Design, testified at the July 8, 2021, Newtown Zoning Hearing Board public meeting. In his testimony, Mr. Hammond talked about the “Cone of Vision” of drivers on the Bypass & Lower Silver Lake Road in determining the size and placement of signs. Based on his traffic analysis he suggested the optimal height of the freestanding monument sign on the Newtown Bypass should be 50 feet!
