For many of us, evangelism can feel like a huge weight and completely undoable—often because we tend to think it’s all on us. The truth is that God does the work, we just need to be faithful to share our story and his story. Each week we’re looking at both God’s part and our part in being Ready Storytellers. As you enter the places God sends you, notice where he is already at work and trust him to open hearts as you engage. Remember, your part is to open your mouth and engage in conversation in the ordinary places he’s sent you. God’s part is opening hearts.

This week we wrap up our series with an encouragement to keep at it and train ourselves for godliness (1 Timothy 4:6-9, 15-16). What’s one small step you can take right now, to further place yourself in one of the three “channels” of God’s grace we’ve been talking about? If you practice these things and keep training yourself for godliness, your progress will show—and it will last!

One of those places is in community, and belonging together to God's people. How will you prioritize gathering with other believers for worship, prayer, and friendship? God forms us in community, supplying grace through the gathered life of the church and making our witness fruitful to our neighbors.

This week we see that we have the ear of the God of the universe—at any time we can go to him and speak to him in prayer. Life-giving prayer is honest & sincere, loving and God-centered, and expresses total dependence.

One of those places is in his Word. Our God is a speaking God, and he designed us longing and needing to hear his voice. It's a primary way he shapes us. God speaks to form us, reviving our soulds with his Word and guiding us as we listen attentively.

As we begin 2026 we’re looking at some Simple Habits—just three—that will put us “in the channels” (so to speak) of God’s grace. Ordinary paths and places where he regularly pours out his grace. Practicing spiritual habits (spiritual disciplines) is how we stay close to the grace that is already ours in Jesus. We begin this week by seeing that God’s grace does not wait for us to get our act together—it arrives first, freely and lavishly, before effort, obedience, or change ever begin. Grace justifies us without merit, sanctifies us through Spirit-empowered effort, and will glorify us at Christ's return.

One of the reasons Jesus became human was to fulfill a promise God made to David centuries before. He promised him that someone from his lineage would reign on his throne forever as King. Jesus is that King. He became human to take David’s throne as a real king and reign forever.

Jesus didn’t begin to exists at Christmas, he is eternally fully God. At Christmas Jesus added full humanity to his fully deity. He did this (became human like us) to bridge the gap our sin created between us and God and one day bring us home forever.

This Christmas, we’re asking the question, “Why Did God Become Human?” After all, that’s what we celebrate at Christmas. Jesus put on flesh and entered into the brokenness of creation as a human being, adding full humanity to his full deity. One reason he became human was to defeat sin. Jesus, while completely sinless, took on the full weight and punishment of sin for us so that we could go free and have life. Paul says it this way, “He who knew no sin became sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God.” That’s the Gospel in four words: Jesus in our place. Jesus became human to become sin for us to defeat it at the cross and make us truly alive!
