10 Ways to Make Working From Home More Productive Everyone wants to be more productive. How incredible would it be to wake up with a to-do list that you can actually do? Unfortunately, life happens and distractions get in the way of a day's fully checked off checklist. I'm guilty of starting out with good intentions and then falling prey to the dings of my email and the bright lights of my phone.  I took it upon myself to stop the madness and slowly started implementing these things one by one...and it actually worked. You don't have to apply this list all at once but if you can get to a place where you are doing most of these things most of the time, then you are well on your way to a more efficient day. Find movement every 60 minutes. Some studies recommend every 30 minutes, but if you are deep in your work, getting up for a walk when you're in peak creativity is just as counterproductive. I opt for a five-minute walk or stretch every 60 minutes. The quick break allows your brain to pause and rejuvenate. If you're in a slump and finding yourself checking your phone or hopping on social media too much, it's also a good indicator that you should take a movement break. Stop multi-tasking. I'll admit it, I'm still guilty of this one ,though studies have proved that you become extremely less productive when you do multiple things at once. It's just the fact of the matter. When your brain can stop jumping from idea to idea, you become more focused, clear, and determined. When I left my corporate job to start my own business, there was a definite stigma about home offices. Virtual receptionists, virtual office - many entrepreneurs did anything they could to make it seem they worked from a "real," not a home, office. Now, of course, having a home office no longer implies a lack of professionalism or success; in fact, some of the most successful people I know work from home.  What am I reading this week: Goals: How to Get Everything You Want-Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible By Brian Tracy Why do some people achieve all their goals while others simply dream of having a better life? Bestselling author Brian Tracy shows that the path from frustration to fulfillment has already been discovered. Hundreds of thousands—even millions—of men and women have started with nothing and achieved great success. Here Tracy presents the essential principles you need to know to make your dreams come true. Tracy presents a simple, powerful, and effective system for setting and achieving goals—a method that has been used by more than one million people to achieve extraordinary things. In this revised and expanded second edition he has added three new chapters addressing areas in which goals can be most rewarding but also the toughest to set and keep: finances, family, and health Using the twenty-one strategies Tracy outlines, you’ll be able to accomplish any goals you set for yourself—no matter how big. You’ll discover how to determine your own strengths, what you truly value in life, and what you really want to accomplish in the years ahead. Tracy shows how to build your self-esteem and self-confidence, approach every problem or obstacle effectively, overcome difficulties, respond to challenges, and continue forward toward your goals, no matter what happens. Most importantly, you’ll learn a system for achievement that you will use for the rest of your life. This book has been a life-saver for me. "Goals" have been a very important part of my life from my earliest years...but not called by that "name." I am beginning to understand from his book what a "goal" is and how to write one (or more) that puts fire in your belly to get what you want done actually accomplished.
