Richard Chew is joined by Andy Levin, founder and chief strategist of Lean & Green Michigan, and former congressman representing Michigan’s 9th District (from 2019-2023). 

Levin discussed his organization's efforts to promote clean energy through property assessed clean energy (PACE) financing. He said that Lean & Green Michigan has secured about $300 million in financing, covering 81 percent of Michiganders across 61 local governments. The program encourages businesses and nonprofits to make energy-efficient upgrades without taxpayer funds. Levin highlighted the importance of local and state initiatives, noting that PACE financing exists in about 40 states. He also emphasized the need for federal policy to address climate change, citing the benefits of electric school buses and other clean energy projects.
