Villegas knocked Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for creating "manufactured chaos" and instability with his effort to oust Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez by appointing a new school board. "Pedro didn't lose the board, the mayor lost the board, and what you saw was the mayor exercising his power, and I would say abusing his power, by asking the board to resign and then appointing a [new] board . . . to pass a $300 million payday loan as well as fire the CEO, since the board is the entity that can actually fire the CEO of CPS."
