Filling in for Richard Chew, Michelle Peltier is joined by Dr. Lionel Allen, clinical assistant professor in Educational Policy Studies at the University of Illinois-Chicago. (Karen Byrne also participated in the conversation.)  

Dr. Allen discussed the challenges and importance of education in the current political climate and emphasized the role of the federal government in providing equal access and funding for historically marginalized students, particularly those in poverty or with disabilities. He highlighted the need for educators to be creative and innovative in maintaining supportive environments, despite restrictive policies.

His most recent book is "Lead With C.A.R.E.: Strategies to Build Culturally Competent and Affirming Schools."
