The word evangelist can be a scary word when we read it in the Bible. It may send you running in the other direction because you think it is something only someone who studies the Bible or has formal bible training is to be doing. But that is not true. The textbook definition of an evangelist is a person who seeks to convert others to the Christian faith, especially by public preaching. Look at that first part: a person who seeks to convert others to the Christian faith. In other words, evangelism is a primary component of the Great Commission, which we are all called to do.
