There was an advertising promotion line from years ago that said, "membership has it's privileges." Sadly that sentiment is alive and well and socially we are trying to figure out what it takes to be a member of the proper club in order to enjoy the privileges. We don't like to admit that a driving force in this culture is about privilege. At the end of the day, making others less than is not a means for personal elevation, it just makes the other less than. We are so much better than that.
