Jesus has endured the abuse by the very teachers who should have recognized Him and welcomed Him into Jewish faith – instead Jesus was ridiculed and rejected. The Sanhedrin tried Him with lies and fabrications – then failing to make a case for blasphemy they questioned Him about His claims to be the Son of God. Jesus is The Truth – speaking truth the High Priest condemned Jesus of a crime worthy of death under Old Testament Law but not under Roman Law. Condemned to a sentence they could not carry out – the Sanhedrin moved their accusations to the Romans and we will follow them there. We meet Pilate and Herod and Barabbas and a group of very vindictive soldiers. Jesus stands Charged and Convicted – the spiteful soldiers will mockingly Crown Him. In the midst of this farce of a trial we meet Barabbas – who is us! Sunday will be a time of understanding redemption as well as any verse in the Bible Join us as we meet Barabbas – but really we are looking in a mirror. There are few illustrations of substitutionary redemption as clear as Barabbas – the lessons for life are clear and many – come and hear.
