We Are Family
Today, we’re talking about relationships, real, meaningful,life-giving relationships.
We start where God started, Genesis 2:18, "It is not good for man to be alone." God designed us for connection, not just to be near people, but to be truly with people. And yet, in a world of endless social media and crowded workplaces, loneliness is at an all-time high. Over half of Americans report feeling lonely. Almost half say their relationships lack real meaning. That’s heartbreaking.
So, what’s the missing piece? Love. But not the kind thatjust sits there waiting to be loved in return but the kind that gives. Jesus made it clear: It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). That’s not just about money, it’s about giving encouragement, support, and being genuinely happy for others. Can you name someone in your life who would truly celebrate with you when something good happens? If you can, you’re blessed. If not, it’s time to start being that person for someone else.
The world teaches us to be consumers, God teaches us to be givers. The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28). That’s the challenge: shifting from What can I get? to What can I give? Because when we learn to give love, we discover something incredible, our own joy is no longer dependent on what we receive.
So, here’s the question: Who will you love this week? Whoneeds a word of encouragement, a moment of your attention, a reminder that they matter? Love is our testimony, our calling, and our privilege. Let’s live it.
