"We Are Irish Too" - Emma deSouza, civic rights' campaigner

Listen Later

In this episode we're joined by the brilliantly insightful Emma deSouza, a civic rights' campaigner who fought legal battles with the UK Home Office over her rights within the Good Friday Agreement.

Following her marriage to husband Jake in 2015, after deciding on Belfast as their new family home, Emma knew her rights as an Irish citizen under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement yet encountered a number of immigration legal disputes as the UK government contested the terminology from within the Agreement they had a direct part to play in.

Emma takes us through the timeline of her legal battles, her background as an Irish person growing up in Northern Ireland and what the future holds for her and Jake from both a professional and personal nature.
