This series is deliberately trying to push back against some of the individualistic tendencies of our self-understanding. All of these metaphors have an individual aspect to it, but they are fundamentally corporate, collective identities and they don’t make any sense without other people, so those other people really matter!
Building - the church is the true temple of God, and we are priests
Body - the church is the body of which Christ is the head, and we are members of it
Brood - the church is the family of God, and we are included as children in the household
Bride - the church is the beloved bride of Christ, and we are betrothed to be married to Christ
