W.E. A.re Water

Welcome to W.E. A.re Water—a nonpartisan podcast where diverse voices come together for the common good of clean water.

In this episode, host Brittany Costello—Miss Polk County and founder of Watersheds: Think Global, Act Local—sits down with Iowa State Senator Mike Zimmer. Senator Zimmer represents District 35, covering Clinton, Jackson, and Scott counties. With a career spanning over 40 years in education, and current roles as a small business owner and public servant, he brings a wealth of knowledge and purpose-driven leadership to the table.

Together, they explore:

• His journey from teacher to Senator

• RAGBRAI, marathons, and staying grounded

• Iowa’s agricultural future and water policy

• The power of collaboration over division

Whether you're an educator, policymaker, student, or advocate—this conversation is a reminder that protecting our natural resources requires all of us.
