Local: The gathering of believers in a specific location.

We believe that the Lord’s Supper and water baptism are ordinances to be observed by the Church. They are not, however, to be regarded as means of salvation or prerequisites for church membership. This church shall practice believer’s baptism by immersion.

We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict, regenerate, seal, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower for life and service.  He has given spiritual gifts for the functioning of the Church to each believer.

The Son is said to be “begotten” of the Father, a relationship traditionally described as “eternal generation.” This means that the Son eternally proceeds from the Father, not as a creation, but as a necessary and eternal relationship within the Godhead. The Son is of the same essence as the Father and has existed eternally.

The Holy Spirit is said to “proceed” from the Father (and also from the Son in Western Christian theology). This procession is distinct from the Son’s generation and refers to the Holy Spirit’s eternal relationship with both the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit’s procession is often seen as a mysterious aspect of the Trinity that underscores the unity and distinction among the three Persons.

The term “ontological” comes from the Greek word ontos, meaning “being” or “essence,” and in this context, it deals with the essential nature of God as three Persons in one substance.

The “Ontological Trinity” refers to the understanding of the Trinity that focuses on the nature and being of God, particularly in how the three Persons of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—relate to one another within the Godhead.

The term “economic” comes from the Greek word oikonomia, meaning “management” or “arrangement,” and in this context, it describes how God’s triune nature is revealed and operates in the world. The “Economic Trinity” refers to the way the three Persons of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—relate to creation and carry out their roles in the history of salvation.

Jesus Christ is true God and true man, who died for our sins, rose again, serves as our High Priest and Advocate, and sent the Holy Spirit to minister His presence and power to us. In part 4 of We Believe, Allison Wright reads from John 1:1-18, Matthew 1:18-25, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Hebrews 4:14-16, and John 15:26.

It is the inspired, authoritative, inerrant Word of God.

There is one God who eternally exists in three co-equal, co-eternal, consubstantial Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe the Father originally manifested Himself to man as the Creator of all things who interacts with His world through providence.  He is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  All who follow Christ are spiritually begotten by the Father.  We are taught to direct our prayers to the Father through Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. 

Eternal generation describes an eternal relationship in which the Son is begotten, not made, by the Father. The Son has no beginning or end, and is of the same essence as the Father, sharing the same divine nature.

It is that eternal and necessary act of the first person in the Trinity, whereby He, within the divine Being, is the ground of a second personal subsistence like His own, and puts this second person in possession of the whole divine essence, without any division, alienation, or change.   Louis Berkhof
