Typically we do not, information is usually issued to us either voluntary or involuntary. Although we learn best when we are taught, guided, and/or counsoled on how to do a certain task via physical, written, or visual demonstration.  It can often land different positive or negative when received from someone that loves or cares for us the most, especially in a marriage.
