In the last few weeks on my way to the office I see a billboard that says We buy ugly houses.com. I laughed all the way thinking about it. You know, that's what Jesus does too. He buys ugly people and turns them into beautiful people.
When He went to the cross there were two thieves, one on the right and one on the left. Do you remember that? And they both mocked Him. But then suddenly one of them – ugly, mean, and insulting though he’d been - turns to Jesus and says, “Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom.” And right there on the cross the Lord Jesus says, “Truly, truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
An ugly person, mocking, spitting, insulting the Savior but Jesus died for him and He took this ugly criminal and turned him into a child of God and right there on the cross washed him, cleansed him, made him a child of God. And when he died a few hours later he went to heaven.
That's what Jesus majors on: taking ugly houses and making them beautiful; taking ugly hearts and turning them to God.
