There's a point in this where I sound as if I'm about to say,"And this...is a little number called 'Novels of Acquaintance'..." and burst into pub-singing. Don't worry, I wouldn't do that to you.

Instead, I'm talking about emotional labour, doing it willingly, but recognising a need for respite. For sanctuary.
