In Devotion Two of Week Three of the Declaring His Excellencies study, we see that when the truth about God is known He is seen in all His glory, beauty, and excellency.
In one sense, listing and describing God's "excellencies" would be an eternal project. He possesses infinite glory, and finite creatures will never come to the ends of God's excellencies. New discoveries of God's glory await the believer every day for all eternity. One cannot put all of God's excellencies on paper and then go out and communicate them to completion.
In another sense, Peter has in mind a few truths about God that he has identified and summarized to which he refers as the excellencies of God. His use of excellencies refers to a clear set of truths God has demonstrated in and through the church.
