The Season of Advent has become a largely secular, worldly affair. The world views it (the days leading up to Christmas) as their "Christmas celebration." Rather than tell the story of Christ, the world tells countless other stories. Each year, the impact of this distorted view of Advent is exposed on the Third Sunday in Advent (aka. Pink Candle Sunday). The real joy of Christmas is found only in Christ.

Isaiah speaks of the "good news of great joy that will be for all the people" (Luke 2:10) to his audience, living in bondage in a foreign land hundreds of years before the birth of the Messiah. The arrival of Jesus "will make righteousness and joy spring up before all nations."
