Since we didn't tackle an episode on Mother's Day, we decided to come through this week and talk about Mother's Day. Specifically, the relationships between mothers and daughters, the ones that aren't always social media worthy. The ones that take a little more work. Or not. The ones that don't necessarily get the limelight during the holiday. We go there and get the jewels. And we share them with y'all. So grab some ice cream or some wine. Settle in. And get your chuckles in with us. Don't forget to hit us up on Facebook and IG, and send us your feedback at [email protected].
Since we didn't record on Mother's Day, we wanted to give you an episode about Mother's Day. So this week we talk about our relationships with the idea of motherhood, broken mother/child relationships, reparenting ourselves, grieving our mothers while still operating as mothers, and Mother's Day in the age of social media. We're holding space for all of you who, for whatever reason, didn't have it on Mother's Day, and can't post a photo and tribute on their social media feeds. We feel you. We love you. Thank you for listening. As always, hit us up on social media (@we_just_out_here2 on IG and FB) and send us your feedback [email protected].
TRIGGER WARNING: Menstruation, Surgery, Death, Abuse.
This week's episode had both of us breathing through and revealing truths. We're talking about being in community, with each other and with our bodies. How it is we build and maintain a village, what stops us, how Spirit will often run interference, and what it all means. Then we talk about living in a Black cisgendered female body. What happens when the cycle comes? What about babies? What about infertility? We get into it. As always, please feel free to hit that donate button, send us an email, or follow us on social media.
This week's episode is dedicated to Ma'Khia Bryant, Kira Johnson, Latasha Harlins, and all the other Black Women and girls who died just being Black women and girls. We're back from our hiatus and really just need to get some stuff off our chests. If you would like to join this discussion, come join our facebook group or follow us on social media.
In the Season 2 Finale, Nikki B. and J. Hy. break down their experiences with the church, patriarchy, and what it means to get free. We really appreciate you all for listening and ask that you send your feedback to [email protected]. Have a great week, we'll see you next season!
In this week's episode, Nikki B. & J. Hy. talk about religion and spirituality. Of course we talk about our experiences with the church, patriarchy, and church folks. But this is part one, so there's definitely more coming. Don't forget to subscribe and share.
No intro this week, we got straight to it. Inspired by the backlash Chloe Bailey received for doing the Bussit Challenge, Nikki B. and J. Hy. talk about haters, specifically, Black women tearing each other down. Where does it come from? What does it look like? Why is it so bad? Now, this isn't an all inclusive episode, just two Black women talking off the cuff and candid, but if you want to join the conversation, follow them on their social media.
This week's episode kind of piggy backs off of the negative self talk episode. Nikki B. and J. Hy. talk about why and how self-abuse rears its ugly head. We also look at the red flags that pop up when you don't do right by you, and how to fix things so you and your star player can get it right.
Not like that, but yeah, like that. This week your two favorite homegirls are talking Negative self talk. It's a spicy episode full of breakthroughs and the real talk you've come to love. We would say listen with your daughters, but...language. So listen and share what you learn with those you love. Don't forget to follow us on social media so you can join the conversation.
Whew. In this episode, Nikki B. and J. Hy talk about letting it go. Whatever the it is in your experience. A bad relationship, a friendship, a habit. If it's no longer bringing you good energy, let it go. If you haven't listened to the Enough is Enough episode, this is the part two. The thing about this show is we're real friends, so when J. Hy snatches Nikki's whole scalp, it's definitely real and from a place of love and support. Buckle up cupcakes, we're letting it go.
