612 We Make It Our Goal To Please a the Lord,  A Guided Christian Meditation on 2 Corinthians 5:6-10 with the Recenter With Christ app   The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ.  Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing.  If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.   Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:   Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate,  deflate. Scripture for Meditation: 2 Corinthians 5 NIV 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. NRSVCE 6 So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord— 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10 For all of us must appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil. Meditation: We walk by faith not by sight. Our true identity is infused from God and that is inherently outside of the world of what we see. Not just our identity but also morality. That is not seen. The source of identification of what is good and evil is not seen. Equally our perspective on what our life goals are is similarly unseen. At a time when we may reevaluate life goals what do we choose as those most important goals. This provides an interesting tension. On the one hand an over-fixation on our own goodness can cause us to overlook the grace of God. Another way to say that focusing only on our actions is focusing only on those things that are seen and not by faith Also if we are brutally honest with ourselves we recognize a whole multitude of sins. There are nearly endless ways in which human nature is in opposition to the unseen positive. We tend to focus on only what is immediately in front of us and many times that can lead us away from the things of God when the things in front of us are rooted in carnal nature.  Moments of devotion can help us center our intention to look to the things of faith. With that said we can have absolute confidence in the promise and goodness of God. As we walk by faith we walk with the knowledge of a God’s definition of who we are and our eternal spiritual nature as Children of God redeemed by Jesus. So as we set our goals and mindset, or perhaps evaluate the progress of our goals, let us place more focus on those unseen things of God rooted in faith.  Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Final Question: If you consider the invitation and command to persevere in the faith, what change in your life does that bring to your mind?  FIND ME ON: Download my free app: Recenter with Christ Website - ChristianMeditationPodcast.com Voicemail - (602) 888-3795 Email: [email protected] Apple Podcasts - Christian Meditation Podcast Facebook.com/christianmeditationpodcast Youtube.com/christianmeditaitonpodcast Twitter - @ChristianMedPod
