We Should Do This Again Sometime with Kat & Marc

Marc & show friend Errick review “Children of Men” and “Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)”. The guys talk how “Children of Men” has stood the test of time and if black and white films are for the young generation. Also, Errick gives a theory on this summer’s “Masters of the Universe” and Marc makes him a list of black-and-white film recommendations (the list is here on Letterboxd). But first, Marc pays tribute to the late esteemed film critic Ann Hornaday.

Though set almost 90 years apart, John Singleton’s debt classic “Boyz N The Hood” and acclaimed filmmaker Julie Dash’s “Daughters of the Dust” are tethered. Kat, Marc, & show friend Jamila discuss the two award winning films, and the careers of Singleton and Dash. Plus they talk “Anora” and Mikey Madison two years after their awards run, and Chris Rock’s recent film “Misty Green”.

Kat & Marc discuss a slew of Jane Austen adaptions, particularly 1995’s “Sense and Sensibility” and 1996’s “Emma”. Also, they talk Emma Thompson making history, Ang Lee’s strong director filmography, and the strong start to Kate Winslet’s career. Marc asks the tough question, is Gwyneth Paltrow a good actress? Lastly, film Twitter is in the toilet.

Season 11 is here, y’all! The theme for this year is all movie anniversaries. Kat & Marc start by heading to France for the 75th anniversary of “An American in Paris”. Then, they catch the red eye to NYC for “West Side Story.” 

To close out Season 10 and to say farewell to the summer, Kat & Marc are joined by Kelen & Kazmo to draft the best 2000’s Summer movies. Come to hear us wax poetic about movies.
