Growing up in Chile, she found inspiration from her family of writers and poets. Later on, she emigrated to Canada, and after retiring from a long career as a nurse/midwife, she decided to take on a new challenge; learning to write narrative and fiction in English. In 2016 she started to write in her adopted tongue. Several of her short stories and articles have been published on Reedsy, a literary site and on Tint, a magazine dedicated to ESL creative writing. Her debut book, ‘Under a Weeping Willow,’ which contains a short story collection and a novella, was published in June 2023. Margarita lives in Pitt Meadows, BC, with her husband.
