This is the smashes system podcast, I’m Nino Prodan. This week, I’d like to share with you why I think one of our beliefs that we hold most closely is one of the biggest lies we tell us and actually holds us back from becoming more aware and more conscious of what’s going on around us and who we truly are. So as a kid growing up, I was born in the 70s, late 70s. So as I was growing up in the 80s, my mom kind of went against the grain always. She always told me to, to have fun, enjoy myself, not to take on too much work, to enjoy being a kid and have fun. So I took it to heart. I went out and played on the playground played sports, backyard football, soccer, basketball, ran around during summers that seemed to last for years and played laser tag and had water balloon fights. And I was truly carefree kid. There’s barely a damn worry on my mind. But there’s one thing during all that time my mom was preaching to me one thing have to have fun and not worry. But as she said it, I watched her run around like a mad woman. She was always busy always doing something. Constantly grinding oil work, working overtime, working on weekends, I watched my dad do the same thing. Seemed like keeping yourself busy was what life was all about. And it wasn’t just what they were telling me by their actions but school started also training me to keep busy inundating me with homework, or not that I not only did I spend all my time learning at school, but once I got home, I had to do hours of homework. So every time thing that my mom told me to remain a kid. And to not worry, not take on too much and to have fun. It all went out the window. Her action showed me that I dad’s actions. School kept telling me that it was the wrong thing to do too. So slowly, but surely, I became programmed to stay busy. But as that busyness took over my life, there was something I started to lose. And I’ll tell you more of that tomorrow.
