I may be flogging a dead horse....I realise this isn't to most peoples taste, but after spending a couple of months on trying to get something good out of this...well, I don't know - few people listen to it and many of those who have, I suspect don't like it; but I do.
Not the best thing I've ever written, but it has some good moments ("when it ends" I hear people cry). Love/hate relationship with this one for me.
Some autotune has been used on the guitar at the beginning - it's barely noticable but a couple of notes sounded slightly off.
I've added some backing vocals and redone the main vocal.
As to the quality of the song, well that's up to the listener. I think it's ok, but don't have any confidence in it being considered more than a 'lesser tune'. I'm not a big fan of my voice, anyway, but if you get any enjoyment out of it, that's good.

Lyrics
--------
This journey. The endless crawl.
The straight and narrow pulls me
Temptation cannot turn me back to life at all.
The silence. The binding darkness.
A light ahead will guide me.
Stumble when I'm flying, hold me when I fall
We will never be alone
You find me and take my hand.
I asked you once before.
I know you've seen it all - take my hand.
We will never be alone
We will never be alone

Timeline...
Very little in the way of sequencing was used on this. Practically all that you hear is a live performance (albeit overdubs).
13 Sept '15 - Original recording
13-14 Sept '15 - Guitars added
14 Sept '15 - Mid-section instruments, synth bass
23 Sept '15 - Pro-soloist (subtle), percussion - re-EQ where bass is too rich
26 Sept '15 - Bring Pro-soloist to front a bit more, gtr at beginning. Change from 'rough' to 'demo'
5 Dec '15 - Decided the vocalised version is better. The intro guitar is brought forward in the mix.
19 Dec '15 - Soft horns added and light pedal steel added (very subtle). Removed a couple of breathing noises from the vocals.
27 Dec '15 - ProSoloist subtle additions (Telstar)
2 Jan '16 - Attempt to make the vocals less bassy by cutting the lower frequencies.
28 Apr '16 - Added vocoder to chorus (subtle)
11 Jun '16 - Cubase mix
28 May '17 - Remix and widening of sound
