The Greek word, Stoicheia, is the key to understanding Galatians 4:1-11, where Paul warns the Gentiles in Galatia that if they place themselves under the Sinai covenant given to Israel, they will go back to their old ways as pagan, polytheist Gentiles, relating to God through ritual observances rather than a heart that trusts in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
