First we must understand the kingdoms of this world and the god of this world system.

2 Corinthians 2:11 says,

So that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.

The progression of Lucifer, Satan and the devil

Lucifer in the Garden of Eden as tempter:

Ezekiel 28:13-17 says,

“You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.  “You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering:

The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, Was in you.  On the day that you were created they were prepared.  “You were the anointed cherub who covers, and I placed you there.  You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.  “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until unrighteousness was found in you.  “By the abundance of your trade you were internally filled with violence,

and you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane from the mountain of God.  And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.  “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor.  I cast you to the ground."

The fear of the Lord is the start of Wisdom.  Lucifer was lifted with pride in the splendor of looks.  This caused the decay of Wisdom or fear of God.  Satan thought that he could be like God.  Genesis 3 says, Lucifer told Eve that she could eat the tree with the result of God likeness.  Really this is what Lucifer wanted to control mankind and hold God to His unchangeable character to judge man according to His promise.  They ate the tree and Lucifer took authority as the god of this world system.  Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day and they had their first children around one hundred and twenty.  This is when the transgression took place time wise from the 6th day to one hundred twenty years.

God told Adam that he has authority over the Earth.  Adam is a type of the Second Adam which means that the authority is really for Jesus to come.  Lucifer takes the authority from Adam in the fall.  Satan is known as the god of this world system and the prince and the power of the air at this point. Palms 94:20 says, Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?  The throne of iniquity is operating using the Law to judge.  What happens one the sin is committed.  God cursed the ground, mankind and the serpent (Seraphim).  God took the Garden of Eden off the Earth.

The Garden was comprised of three compartments:

The Holy of Holies or the place of the throne

The Holy place or Abraham's bosom in the Earth as the compartment of souls trusting the Gospel prior to the cross

The Outer court or hades also known as the world outside the gate of the temple

Luke 16 says, that Lazarus went to the holding place and the rich man went to hades. There was a great gulf fixed to where no one could pass from one place to the other. When Jesus goes into the Earth for three days it is in Abraham's bosom to lead them on into the spirit realm when He rises (Ephesians 4:8-10).

These are all the Old Testament saints that found grace looking to the Gospel prior to the cross.  Once mankind sinned,
