In episode 46 of Web3 Warriors, Krome interviews Marco Santini, an award-winning artist, muralist and creator of the Signature Series NFT Collection on MakersPlace. They discuss his unique take on the "phygital" NFT concept, which takes physical memorabilia that was signed by historically famous artists and gives them new life on the blockchain. Not only does Marco give these artifacts a new digital life, but he also cuts them into very intentional designs that emphasize their history. The animated digital art and the original cut up memorabilia are sold as a set with the NFT.
Marco calls his new art category "Illuminism" and some of the most famous galleries in the world are noticing the provenance of his work. This is an NFT project that is geared toward high-end traditional art collectors while still leaning into the digital element of the art. The animated digital art for the NFT is a beautiful abstract use of neon lines and colours to highlight the artist's signature and breathe new life into an artifact that was gathering dust.
Tune in for an inspiring and innovative example of thinking outside of the box in this NFT space. Marco's project is controversial to some, but nobody can deny it is also historically relevant for web3 and the traditional art space more broadly.
