Don’t forget these Very Important Details on your wedding day:

  • Start your wedding day off right - play some music (90’s rap, relaxing spa, or whatever you feel like, but set the vibe with music), and don’t forget to eat! Make a plan for food so you’re not figuring this out in the morning of your wedding.
  • JOE’S TIP - Bring a speaker to make sure you have quality sounds all day long, and if you’re doing a champagne toast, figure out where those glasses are coming from. Most hotel rooms don’t have them on hand.
  • Prepare for your detail photos - grab all the items you want photographed, like your invitation suite, BOTH rings, flowers, shoes, jewelry, etc and put them all together for your photographer.
  • HYDRATE! Drink lots of water all day long, especially if you have an outdoor wedding. And have a plan of where you’ll get water - a lot of outdoor venues don’t have water supplies, so if you get there before the bar is set up, bring your own water. This is very important!
  • Break in the shoes you’ll be wearing during your wedding, but NOT the shoes that will be photographed.
  • It’s controversial (in Tessa’s mind for some reason), but stock up amenity kits for your guests with items they’ll truly need: insect repellent, sunscreen, band aids, feminine hygiene products, phone chargers, hair ties… DON’T waste your time or money on misc items that people won’t need or use: mint or gum in the bathroom (gross), bobby pins, combs, shoe polish…
  • Give your bridesmaids more time that you expect them to need when they’re getting dressed. If you want photos with you and your bridesmaids in robes, toasting with champagne, you’ll need extra time to get them dressed before getting you into your dress. Plan for it!
  • TESSA’S TIP: Plan ahead in the morning and make sure the bridesmaids have their dresses steamed, tags cut off, and ready to go when it’s time to get dressed.
  • Designate someone to be in charge of your important items, especially if you’re moving between venues - your marriage license, the rings, your phones. Know who that person is in advance so you know who to go to for all your important items.
  • Keep your pant pockets and jacket pockets free of keys, wallets and phones. There’s not reason to have all of these items in your pockets, and they’re easily visible while taking photos. This goes for the entire wedding party, family, and anyone else in the requested photos with the couple.
  • Learn to bustle your dress, and practice with someone (a bridesmaid, a mom, your wedding planner) in the morning as soon as you get your dress on so it’s not a panick
