Italian-American automaker Fiat Chrysler proposed a merger with Renault after the French firm’s long-time Japanese partner Nissan rebuffed its latest attempt at a more formal union.

Investors bought up Greek stocks and bonds but sold off Italian investments after European election results made economic changes more likely.
