The Two Year Bible

Week 15 Review

Listen Later

This week we talk through Leviticus 11-20, Luke 24:13-Acts 2:12, Psalm 109:1-15. Chris Case and Sarah Pascual continue through Leviticus, unpacking laws about clean and unclean animals, purification after childbirth, leprosy and mildew, bodily discharges, and ultimately the Day of Atonement. They stress the distinction between unclean and sinful, showing how purity laws reflect God’s holiness and the set-apartness of His people. The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) becomes the center of Leviticus, pointing to Jesus as the final, complete sacrifice and true High Priest.

They also explore the prohibition of eating blood, God’s design for sexuality, and His repeated call for Israel to “be holy as I am holy.” Practical laws about justice, neighbor love, generosity to the poor, and protection of the vulnerable highlight God’s heart for a distinct and equitable community.

In the New Testament, Luke concludes with the road to Emmaus, Jesus’ physical resurrection appearances, and His ascension. These passages show how the whole of Scripture points to Christ. Acts begins with Jesus’ commission, His ascension, and the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost. Chris draws parallels to Sinai, Babel, and even Roman imperial coronation narratives, showing how Pentecost reverses human scattering and launches God’s new temple—His Spirit-filled people. The Psalms reinforce dependence on God amid enemies and highlight the Messiah’s priesthood.
