The Two Year Bible

Week 16 Review

Listen Later

This week we talk through Leviticus 12 – Numbers 2, Acts 2:14-4:22, Psalm 110 and Proverbs 16. Chris Case and Sarah Pascual finish Leviticus and open the book of Numbers. They explore laws for priests, acceptable offerings, and the call to be living sacrifices (Romans 12:1). They highlight God’s command for Israel to celebrate—walking through the calendar of feasts from Sabbath, Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits (fulfilled in Jesus’ resurrection), to Pentecost (the Spirit’s harvest), Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles (God dwelling with His people).

They discuss Sabbath years and Jubilee as reminders that the land belongs to God, and reflect on slavery in its ancient context, justice as “eye for eye,” and blessings and curses tied to obedience. The book ends with covenant renewal and an invitation to repentance and hope. Personal takeaways include the weight of God’s holiness and the wonder that His Spirit now dwells in believers as His temple.

Numbers begins with a census of Israel’s warriors and Levites, showing God’s faithfulness to His promises and setting the stage for the wilderness journey. In Acts, Peter’s Pentecost sermon connects Joel and David to Jesus’ resurrection, declaring it impossible for death to hold Him. The Spirit-filled church shares possessions freely, echoing the heart of Pentecost to care for the poor. Peter and John heal a beggar, proclaim Jesus boldly, and stand before the Sanhedrin with Spirit-given courage, insisting that salvation is found in no other name. Psalms 110 and Proverbs 16 reinforce Jesus’ kingship and the call to trust God’s wisdom over our own.
