Welcome back to the 2nd week of Mirrorless Mission with yours truly. This week was when I began my navigation and adaption into what would be my new lifestyle for the next 6 weeks. As soon as my mind could no longer fixate on my flaws in the mirror, I directly began criticizing my body from my own point of view, which wasn't easy to stop. I decided to do a bit of research on the mind and why we criticize ourselves and incorporate social media and how that's affected us in the same ways a beauty pageant has. I hope you enjoy this weeks Mirrorless Mission podcast, tune in for next weeks episode where I will be adapting to the "hide-self view" feature on Zoom and what I've learned from that week.
P.S. The report I mentioned that I would add:
Wonderlich AL, Ackard DM, Henderson JB. Childhood beauty pageant contestants: associations with adult disordered eating and mental health. Eat Disord. 2005 May-Jun;13(3):291-301. doi: 10.1080/10640260590932896. PMID: 16864534.
