A new church, new controversies. Must they circumcise new Gentile believers? What is the significance of salvation in Christ versus works of the flesh? Suffering is inevitable. Will we allow it to bring about a greater dependency upon the Lord, or to embitter our souls? David shows his heart of submission to God and reverence for His holiness as Saul repeatedly tries to kill him time after time, and yet he (David) refuses to take Saul’s life. In our current world, where defamation of character is common fodder for conversation, we do well to take a lesson from Paul and David: faith in the Lord is revealed by honoring those in authority, whether they are deserving or not. 

When we read the Scriptures as law rather than promise, we miss our inheritance in Christ. The Scriptures are to bring us into transformational moments where they begin to shine and open doors as the Spirit brings them to life in our hearts.
