Week in Review - April 4, 2025

Listen Later

Well, it’s a funny time of year in the outdoor world and despite turkey season taking up pretty much everyone’s attention, we’ve had to dig a bit deeper to keep the stories coming. And not one to shy away from a challenge, we still managed to deliver amongst all of the foolishness that the beginning of the week brought on. This week we covered the unique story of an Alabama man that the law finally caught up to after he poached a deer back in the late nineties in Wyoming. That’s right, busted after 25 years on the run.

We also covered a peculiar 7-hour fishing season in Oregon that resulted in the seizure of over 2,500 lbs of illegally caught fish. And we’ve also got the stories of a New Hampshire corrections officer that has since been arrested for poaching multiple trophy bucks and another wolf-related state of emergency, this time in New Mexico.

We’re also covering:

  • South Carolina bans reaping and shooting jakes this year
  • Alaska gets clearance to carry-on with controversial predator-culling program aimed at saving caribou
  • Washington State deer and elk hunters can no longer hunt over bait
  • Montana Senate Rejects Unlimited Wolf Hunt, Passes Tamer Measures as FWP Sets New Management Plan
  • Wyoming Ranchers Paid to Host Elk as Feedgrounds Face CWD Crisis
  • Teen anglers held at gunpoint over backyard fishing in Florida neighborhood
  •  Is the answer to Kansas’ growing coyote problem more hunting? Many seem to think so
