The Venatic Podcast

Week in Review - October 4, 2024

Listen Later

This week we’re covering the story of 81-year-old Arthur Shubarth who earlier this year was caught for importing foreign sheep parts, cloning embryos and eventually creating a giant sheep specimen he later named the “Montana Mountain King” who he would soon use to breed even more super-sheep and sell them to captive hunting operations across the country. Well, he finally had his day in court and things aren’t looking all that good for him.

We’ve also got the story of a trio of guides who are now facing federal Lacey Act violations stemming from over a dozen illegally killed and transported mountain lions. And let me tell you, these guys are going to be worse off than the old man and his sheep.

We're also covering:

  •  Northern Ontario man facing big fines after getting his Indigenous buddy to claim he shot a big bull moose
  •  Three people killed in apparent dispute over hunting land
  • “Fat Bear Week” gets delayed after a large bear kills a rival bear live on camera
  • The dude from Swamp People has been cited in a Louisiana alligator hunting sting
  • Headless elk leads to poaching investigation in Park City
  • Colorado camper kills a mountain lion with a shovel
