Our small group discussion questions are listed below:
Q: Do you feel shame ever about being a Christian? Why? What circumstances in particular bring shame? In contrast, when do you feel “strongest” for God? When are you most confident?
Q: There are many verses that relate to a believer suffering for the gospel. Pick one or two to discuss. John 15:18-20; Mat 5:10; 2 Cor 4:8-12; Col 1:24; Phil 1:29; 2 Tim 3:12; Rom 8:17; 1 Thess 1:6; 2:14; 3:4.
Q: What is the purpose of our suffering for the gospel? What do we learn from Paul’s life related to this idea? How do you really approach struggles in your life?
Q: Verses 9 and 10 really lay out the beauty of the gospel. Of what significance is the death and resurrection of Jesus to Paul? What foundation does he (and you) derive from it?
Q: Verse 12 talks about being “convinced.” Are you convinced…honestly? How do we become convinced? If truly “convinced,” how would your life be different? What has been entrusted to you?
Q: When Paul calls Timothy (and us) to “share in suffering for the gospel,” how can we do that as students in 90 @ 9? As family members doing life together at Leroy Chapel? As members of the worldwide church of Jesus Christ?
Q: How do you feel about the “African Pastoral Call to Action” we read today What parts of it are really convicting to you? What other emotions does it create?
