First up Mark Honeychurch joins Graeme Hill, to expose hoaxes, woo and scams for what they arent. This week the pair first take a look at radicalisation. Then they take a look at what skepticism truly is, and how brave skeptics have to be. Being skeptical - asking questions rather than just believing something. Mark delves into why you would be willing to become a jihadist? Then the pair take a look at rather dubious prophet. He was arrested this week for an attempted resurrection that failed. Then , why do people shrink? Well we found somebody that has the answer. Medical expert Tim Cundy joins Graeme to tell us why and how. Between the age of 30 and 70 men lose approximately 3 centimetres, whereas women lose around 5 cm. By the time you reach 80 men have lost around 5 cm and women have lost around 8 cm. There are other factors such as osteoporosis that can contribute to shrinkage also. Graeme wonders does everybody shrink? Tim believes that yes, everybody shrinks. It is dependant however on each individual case, as everyone is average or above average. As well as chronic changes over time, there are changes to height throughout the day. At the end of the day you are generally shorter than you are when you wake up by at least a centimetre. Can anything prevent this? Or is it an inevitability of being bipedal. Unfortunately there are not preventative measures. From your toes to your hips your height should remain the same, but its the spongy bits in your back that change your height overall. Graeme wondered and now we know. And finally Andy Deere, director of Bludgeon joins Graeme. Bludgeon follows a group of fully armoured medieval fighters. Its a real sport and they dont hold back.Weekend Variety Wireless with Graeme Hill, 8pm - midnight Saturdays and Sundays, on RadioLIVE and streaming live to the Rova app on Android and iPhone.
