Good evening VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with your weekly announcements. Monday is a shortened day. Buenas noches Comunidad VAPA! Este es el Dr. Trimis con sus anuncios semanales. El lunes es un día acortado.
We are quite busy at VAPA with many meetings and activities over the next few weeks. Next week we will be visiting several of our middle schools as we recruit students in the Zone of Choice process and we will hold an Open House for all interested students on Saturday, March 4, from 10 am-12 pm. Congratulations to our teacher of the month, Bridget Spencer, and our students of the month who I will announce next week. All of the students of the month and the teacher of the month are featured on our bulletin board, on our website, and on our social media platforms. We are excited to welcome new staff and new programs at Legacy VAPA! Our new color guard taught by Andres Olvera starts practices this Wednesday and the new swim team coached by Jessica Curiel and new boys golf team coached by Matt Nolan each start practices on February 1. Any students interested in these programs may still participate. See me of the coach as soon as possible. Next week on January 31, we will have required parent meetings for color guard, jazz band, jazz choir, and glee club, and the Sporing Musical. We are also starting an afterschool drum line coached by Ajay Mani in the next few weeks. Congratulations to all students who auditioned for the Spring Musical, Disney's High School Musical. The cast list will be posted tomorrow at school and on line with rehearsals beginning on Tuesday at 3:15 pm. Congratulations and good luck to our first ever Academic Decathlon team coached by Mr. Avalos who will be competing the next two Saturdays at Roybal Learning Center in the LAUSD ACADECA competition. Good luck to our Jazz Choir and Jazz Band who will be going into the studio this Wednesday to record our new jingle, "Legacy VAPA", soon available on I-Tunes. Lastly, congratulations to our Music Department and school for being named a 2017 Grammy Signature Schools Enterprise Award Semi-Finalist!
That's it for now. See you at school!
Take Care,
Dr. Edward Trimis, Principal
