Good evening VAPA Community. This is Dr. Trimis with your weekly announcements. Monday is a shortened day. Buenas noches Comunidad VAPA. Este es el Dr. Trimis con sus anuncios semanales. El lunes es un día acortado.
This week we have several events an activities including articulation/recruitment events at our feeder middle schools and other field trips. There will be a School Site council meeting and Shared Decision Making Council meeting on Monday at 3:30 pm this week. There are special required parent meetings for several groups this Tuesday, January 31. Parents of students in jazz band, jazz choir, a cappella singers, and glee club will meet at 6 pm in the music room, parents of students in the Spring Musical will meet at 6:30 pm in the MPR, and parents of students in Color Guard will meet at 7 pm in the Music Room. At each meeting parents will get an overview of this semesters performances, rehearsals and commitments including competitions, festivals, and tours, and will have the opportunity to ask any questions. All of the instructor/coaches will be at the meetings. We will also have information about PTSA at the meetings and PTSA representatives will be there to answer questions.
We are deep into our Spring semester, even though it has only been a few weeks since Winter break! We have several new programs and staff for this semester. Any students who are still interested these new programs, please check with the coach or instructor because you may still be able to get involved. Our new Color Guard meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after school and are preparing for upcoming competitions. The coach instructor is Andres Olvera. Swim Team is starting up this week pending final processing of our coach, Jessica Curiel. The Spring Musical is in full swing, rehearsing on Tuesdays through Thursdays after school for now and directed by drama teacher, Stacie Craig. And our afterschool competitive drumline with coach/instructor Ajay Mani will start up this week or next week. Our new technical theatre program taught my Miguel Delgado is scheduled to also start this week. Congratulations to our jazz and a cappella singers and jazz band who went into the studio last Wednesday to record their first single, "Legacy VAPA", soon available everywhere. Congratulations to our VAPA ACADECA Team who did a fantastic job in their first competition on Saturday which included presenting two speeches, writing an essay, and participating in an interview. The team, coached by Mr. Avalos, has another day of competition this Saturday.
