February 26, 2017

Good evening VAPA community! This is Dr. Trimis with your weekly announcements. Monday is a shortened day. Please complete the School Experience Survey before February 28. The survey is linked in our website at www.vapalegacy.com
There are a few opportunities for parent involvement this week at Legacy VAPA. If you are a parent of an English Learner, please call us at 323-357-7531. We need you to be one of three members of our English Learners Advisory Council and meet once or twice this Spring. There is a meeting to get information transition plans for students with disabilities at Southeast Middle School Tuesday at 8:30 am and then again at 6 pm. Our PTSA can also use members and we always need volunteers at school to assist in the office and around the campus. Please call us for more information at 323-357-7531.
Congratulations to all of our Winter sports teams as they are winding up seasons and we are transitioning into Spring Sports. A special shout-out to Legacy Girls Basketball who are in the CIF City Open Division, defeating Eagle Rock High School in their Semi-Final game on Friday. They will play in the championship for 3rd place in the city this Wednesday and then on to the State Championships! Congratulations!
We still have space in our new Color Guard program. Color Guard is a mix of using dance, tall flags, and equipment such as sabres and rifles, all put together in a performance to recorded music. The Color Guard competes in the Spring most weekends and with the marching band in field shows in the Fall. There is no audition or any fees to participate. Please go to the music room during lunch on Wednesday or after school on Monday or Wednesday this week if you are interested. We are also starting an afterschool, competitive drumline. The drumline also includes keyed percussion such as xylophones and bells, and rhythm instruments such as keyboards and electric bass. There is no audition or feeds to participate. Please go to the music room during lunch Wednesday this week if you are interested. You can find video examples of both drumline and color guard on our website at www.vapalegacy.com
Lastly, we wish all of our performing groups the best of luck in their performances this Saturday at the Eastside Arts Festival at Torres High School.
 That’s it for now,
Have a great week!
